Attractive stage from Formula 4 to Formula 3

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup 2022

After a successful season last year, the Drexler Formula Cup is in the starting blocks for 2022. The season will kick off on the second weekend of April ( 10.04.22), when the Formula racing series will meet at the Hungaroring. "We are hoping for a good-class grid in Hungary. Nevertheless, we should say that things will probably really get going for the second event in Monza (24.04.22). We see the current world situation very objectively and cannot estimate how travel regulations might change," says coordinator Franz Wöss. The organisers on site have gathered the best experience to prepare the events well. Whether Corona will then become a factor again remains to be seen. Currently, the Drexler Formula Cup is planning eight events. Seven of them will be held on race tracks where Formula 1 is at home. "This year's schedule is internationally oriented. This is also an incentive for new teams to join us," says Franz Wöss.

Four classes are integrated in the Drexler Formula Cup. With this variety of possible applications, the Drexler Formula Cup is sticking to its concept of the last few years. In addition, the cooperation with the Top Jet F2000 Trophy and the FIA CEZ is indispensable. The classifications for the Austrian National Racing Car Championship also play an important role, as they are internationally oriented. With Formula 3, Formula Renault and Formula 4, all the established classifications are included. The Drexler Formula Cup will continue to focus on Formula 3 cars built up to 2018, which has a long tradition throughout Europe, especially in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. "We feel obliged to offer Formula 3 a stage here," says Wöss. In the Formula Renault category, everything remains the same. These will race in the Formula Renault 2.0 Cup from the model years 2000 to 2018. In Formula 4, not only the current Formula 4 cars are eligible to start with the new generation of cars. It is still possible to enter a Formula ADAC, Formula BMW, Abarth or Gloria. Once again, Formula 3 cars with performance-enhanced engines have been included in the regulations, which will compete for the F3 Open Formula Cup. Especially for the Swiss participants, the SWISS Formula Cup will be continued with the support of HORAG. With the four classification classes and the flagship Formula 3, the Drexler Formula Cup offers optimal conditions in formula racing. "We want to continue our philosophy, especially for beginners in form. This way, a young driver can not only take his first steps in a formula car. In our environment, you can progress from Formula 4 to Formula 3. The international selection of race tracks is a challenge that we are happy to take on. The fact is, most teams in Formula 3 simply want to race on Formula 1 tracks," says Franz Wöss. This is also a foundation stone for providing young drivers with the tools they need for future tasks.
