Sandro Zeller wins duel against Benjamin Berta

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Hungaroring (HUN)

With a mini field of eight formula cars and a double victory of Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) the 3rd round of the Drexler Formula Cup took place on the Hungaroring. The entire weekend was focused on the duel between Sandro Zeller and Benjamin Berta (Solution Racing SE), who narrowly missed out on victory in both races on his home track. Sandro Zeller went on the attack in the first qualifying session and took pole position with a time of 1:37.289 min. Berta started like a fire engine at the start and overtook the Swiss. In the further course of the race Berta and Zeller shone with fast lap times and were very close to each other.

In the 13th lap Zeller took the lead and then climbed over the rear wheel of Norbert Siska (Franz Wöss Racing) while lapping. Siska then received a 30-second penalty for driving in front of Zeller's car. Race control then decided to stop the race and did not call a safety car phase before the end of the race. Tom Beckhäuser (Franz Wöss Racing) crossed the finish line behind Zeller and Berta. With a gap of 16.926 seconds he had no chance to fight for the victory. The duel between Zeller and Berta was praised and respected not only by the spectators: "That was motorsport as it should be, a really great duel between the two," agreed Franz Wöss and Jo Zeller. This close race outcome ensured plenty of excitement for the second race and once again Benjamin Berta and Sandro Zeller were on top form. While Berta had won the pole, Zeller did not let his opponent from Hungary out of his sight after the start. The duel between the two contenders lasted the entire distance of the 15 laps. Zeller had decided on his strategy for the last lap and struck three corners before the finish. Berta was no longer able to counter and had to admit defeat by 0.542 seconds. Third place, as on the previous day, went to Tom Beckhäuser, who was satisfied overall with his comeback in Formula 3. In the Formula Light class Adam Kovacs (Magyar Racing Team) convinced in the Formula Renault with a double victory each in front of Robert Siska and Viktor Volenter (HF Racing Team).
